Facts About Citarum
The Citarum River is the largest and longest river in Western Java, Indonesia. The river originates in the Wayang Mountain
(southern part of Bandung city).
It travels around in northern direction for about 269 kilometer until it empties into the Java Sea.
Citarum River basin (CRB) area is about 12.000 km2 covering 12 administrative regions (district/city):
Kab.Bandung,
Kab.Bandung Barat, Kab.Bekasi,
Kab.Cianjur, Kab.Indramayu,
Kab.Karawang, Kab Purwakarta, Kab.Subang, Kab.Sumedang
Kota Bandung, Kota Bekasi dan Kota Cimahi.
The government built three hydroelectric dams located at the upper section of the basin: PLTA Saguling, PLTA Cirata and PLTA Ir. H. Djuanda (or known better as PLTA Jatiluhur)
According to Minister of Public Work Decree No.11A Year 2006, Citarum River basin is cross-boundaries between three provinces Banten-DKI Jakarta-West Java (Cidanau-Ciujung-Cidurian-Cisadane-Ciliwung-Citarum) where coordination and management will be handled in the central government.

Number of Served population: 25 million
Aggregate of 1400 Mega Watt
Irrigation area: 240,000 hectare. Supplies 80 % raw water for Jakarta residence.
